David: Moral Fibers Photo Shoot (Clothing)

Homepage Photo for Moral Fibers (Click the photo to continue onto the website)
A few weeks ago photographer Sarah Kjelleren, model Amy Douglas, and myself went down to NYC to shoot and model for the Moral Fibers 2011 Summer Lookbook. Moral Fibers is a new company based out of Montreal owned by co-founders Matt and Martin. The t-shirts are designed by Haitian artists and have a smart phone QR code printed on the back for potential buyers to scan and check out the shirts on their phones. If the person scanning the shirt decides to buy one, the person wearing the shirt makes money from the purchase. An idea that makes this company extremely unique from the rest. Click the photos for more information and be sure to buy a shirt as well!

David: Sarah Kjelleren's Latest Photo Shoot With Amy Douglas

Sarah Kjelleren
It's been awhile since I've featured Sarah Kjelleren on the site, which many of you may remember through the "Sarah Kjellereon Photo of the Week" posts. I've decided to do without that post now because Sarah is constantly coming out with something new that a photo a week just doesn't cut it. Before I get started on this post I'd like to give her a huge congratulations for getting into the Fashion Institute of Technology in NYC, which means both of us will be sharing the city together! It's going to be a crazy four years that's for sure.

Anyway Sarah's recent photo shoot was with the very beautiful, Amy Douglas. Below is a quick summary that Sarah wrote for the post:

"I met Amy a free months ago after asking her through Facebook if she was interested in modeling. We did a small shoot at a local party and became good friends. On a recent trip to Burlington Vermont, we were staying at my house and had some great ideas for a shoot when exploring my yard. Styling the shoot I decided on a vintage nude colored slip with lace that was previously owned by my grandmother. Amy wore the shoes that she brought with her and we used two vintage mink fur jackets. The temperature dropped fast as it became dark out, but we continued shooting to get the final shots. I was extremely excited about shooting Amy and she did a fantastic time especially for her second shoot. Without previous experience with modeling Amy continued to amaze me with her natural talent for working in front if the camera."

Here's what Amy had to say about the shoot:

"This shoot was a chilling one, literally. Even the cold Vermont air couldn't hold Sarah Kjelleren back from taking fabulous pictures. She made me feel warm, comfortable and beautiful in her vintage styled dress and variety of lovely fur coats. I love being photographed by Sarah because she is not only an extremely talented young lady but she's the coolest, craziest, most down to earth friend anyone could ask for. Her unique style and eye for eccentric and eloquent beauty are portrayed in all of her photos and this shoot is no exception."

David: Ditto

© Sarah Kjelleren
Hugh Cosby & DJ D-Cutz
First of all Happy New Year's to everyone! To start off the new year I wanted to open up by introducing DJ D-Cutz' and myself's DJ duo, Ditto. To clear up some confusion Ditto is separate from TKFV, though we are all family and have worked on projects together. But be on the lookout for D-Cutz and myself this year in 2011 because it's going to be HUGE. Music, concerts, stealing your women, everything. This is only the beginning!

But first a look back at Ditto in 2010:

Rave-a-Palooza

The video above was our first major concert at Higher Ground in Vermont. This was the most successful Rave in Vermont history and was so big that the venue OVER sold out. SWAG.
Filmed and edited by TKFV partner, Gray Sicalowski.

Ben Bruderle

Summer Heat

This video is our favorite so far. This was our second major concert at Higher Ground and the show sold out as well.
Filmed and edited by TKFV partner, Gray Sicalowski.

David: Sarah Kjelleren VIDEO of the Week!

Sarah Kjelleren
This week is not a photo of the week, but instead a video of the week! This is Sarah Kjelleren's first video she's shot and put together on her new Nikon D7000. Already in the process of taking over photography, now it's time for the video world. Check out Sarah's short clip below!

P.S. I have a quick cameo at 00:22!

David: Sarah Kjelleren Photo of the Week!

Sarah Kjelleren
Once again Sarah Kjelleren comes back with another amazing photograph, this one of Marlena Tremback. This is definitely my favorite photo from this shoot and I know it's one of Sarah's as well. Here's what she had to say about the photo:
After taking my first trip to NYC ever, I was inspired even more by fashion. The people in the city were so unique in their tastes and it shows how you can really be anyone you want to be while you are there. I did a bit of shopping before the shoot and picked up some vintage apparel. Once my model Marlena Tremback arrived I dressed her up and we headed out into the cold. After trekking through the fields and the falling barn we headed over to a bamboo patch my father had planted. There I pulled out my film camera and took a few shots of Marlena in the leaves. Those can be seen on my blog (www.SarahKjelleren.com).  We then ran inside did a quick outfit change where she was able to wear her grandmothers vintage jacket, and headed out again to the "Stonehenge." The lighting was incredible and air was fresh and crisp. It was a very successful shoot, with many more to come!

David: New York City Trip with Sarah Kjelleren

Sarah Kjelleren & myself
Minus the Thanksgiving and family festivities that have been going on the last couple of days, last Friday (11/19) till Tuesday (11/23) I was in New York City with my amazingly talented friend and photographer, Sarah Kjelleren. New York City is like a second home to me and I love going in to get away from everything going on in Vermont, but this trip was a little different. Of course many of the long time TKFV readers are probably familiar with our "Sarah Kjelleren Photo of the Week" post, have seen her work, and recognize the name in this writeup, but probably do not know that she had never been to New York City before this trip. So when the opportunity came along to bring her with me I couldn't pass it up.

Day 1:
Brad Digital
The first day wasn't the most exciting since we were just arriving after a five and a half hour drive from Vermont, but I checked into my hotel and brought Sarah to our friend Crystal Potvin's dorm where she was staying. Right after we went down to my friend Brad Digital's store, Little Brooklyn, in SoHo located on Kenmare and Elizabeth, we got dinner at this Hispanic restaurant with him and his intern, Hannah Jade. Then followed that with a few parties, but nothing too intense. Just a simple and average day.

Day 2:
Great $cott
The second day was definitely the most eventful of them all. We started off at Brad Digital's store again and Sarah had her first photo shoot with Great $cott, CEO of The Liaison Group (link is to a good article about Great $cott and the company). I did a little shopping at Brad's store and picked up two pairs of jeans (the kinds that everyone has to stop and say, "Where did you get those?"), a t-shirt, a pair of limited Tokyo edition converses, and a reversible jacket (which Brad described as a good getaway jacket in case you shoot someone in the club).

Afterwards I ran over to meet with the owner and two other guys from NoLabel Watches, talked business, and they hooked me up with one of their watches. Definitely a huge shout out to these guys and another look at the post I put up of them and Cavi Sports last week. Loved the vision and ideas they have in that company at the moment.
Red NoLabel Watch
While I was out with NoLabel, Brad Digital took Sarah Kjelleren, Crystal Potvin, and Hannah Jade around SoHo for a bit and ran into Ricky of Dee & Ricky.
Brad Digital & Ricky (Dee & Ricky)

Then after my NoLabel meeting was done Sarah Kjelleren, Brad Digital, and myself headed over to a Richie Rich POPLUXE (link to an article about the runway show during New York Fashion Week) event where Sarah quickly fell in love with New York City in a heartbeat.
Richie Rich
Richie was definitely a cool and relaxed guy, and he definitely wasn't afraid to pose for pictures at all haha. To be able to talk and hangout with one of the most well known stylists and designers in the industry was a lot of fun though. Sarah even got one of the POPLUXE shirts and I joked with her about how one of her first New York City photo shoots was with Richie Rich.

Day 3:
Crystal Potvin & myself
On the third day we were all tired out from Saturday night, so we decided to take this day off for the most part and do a little bit of shopping. I showed Sarah around SoHo, my favorite place in town, a little more and stopped at places like Opening Ceremony, Oak, Uniqlo, and stopped to see some of my homies Gabriel Acevedo, of the ninGa turDels, and Frendy Lemorin at the Bape store.

Day 4:
Frendy Lemorin
On our last full day in the city, Sarah and I met up with Frendy Lemorin to do a quick photo shoot (click the link to see most the photos featured on Frendy's site). It was funny because they had been planning this photo shoot for years and it finally happened just last week. For those that don't know of Frendy either, I used to work with him on his old blog, *General-Made. This dudes like an older brother to me.
Frendy Lemorin & myself
To end the day we met up with designer/stylist Ugo Mozie, trend reporter and media personality, Daver Campbell, the owners of Nous Sommes, and designers/stylists/models Coco&Breezy for dinner in Union Square.
(From Left to Right) Coco of Coco&Breezy, Me, Sarah Kjelleren, Ugo Mozie, Breezy of Coco&Breezy, and the designers from Nous Sommes (Daver Campbell wasn't in this photo)
Once again New York City has brought me another good trip and it was great to be able to experience it with none other than Sarah Kjelleren.

David: Sarah Kjelleren Photo of the Week!

Sarah Kjelleren
Just when I thought I had made a decision on my favorite Sarah Kjelleren photo she comes out with this one to think about with the title, "Death By Riverside". Featured are models, Cat Darling and Domenick Pfau, both of which attend the same college as Sarah. One thing I'd like to point out about this photo is when I first took a look at it, it captured my emotions right away. Sarah's eye, vision, and addition of black and white really made this photo for me. This girl is amazing! Check it out below:

This photo above is the final version and TKFV is the first to hold this image on any website. Sarah's planning on entering this image in a college photography contest so we wish her luck on where this photo will end up! We have no doubt in our minds that this will go far. With talent comes success.

David: Sarah Kjelleren Photo of the Week!

Sarah Kjelleren
It's been a long time since the last "Photo of the Week" post, but a lot has happened since then. Sarah Kjelleren, TKFV's favorite photographer, has just started her freshman year across the lake at SUNY Plattsburgh in New York. We've been wishing her well while she's been over there, but we're extremely happy to keep this post going once again.

Before I start I'd like to say that this weeks photo is probably one of my all time favorites taken by Sarah Kjelleren. The leaves from the tree, shown in the picture, outline Catherine Feliz (one of Sarah's friends at SUNY Plattsburgh) face in the photo perfectly. It looks almost as if the leaves make up her hair. The use of a film camera and focus on dark colors makes this picture amazing as well. Sarah has never failed to impress me, and I doubt she ever will, but this picture continues to prove how much talent this girl has.

David: Summer Heat 2 (Recap)

DJ D-Kid (Myself)
Last Thursday night, 8/19, at Higher Ground in South Burlington, Vermont, myself, DJ D-Cutz, Vakkuum, & DJ Cody Rice sold out another successful show. This show was so much different than the others though. For the first time the response from the crowd was so on point. For a show originally meant for people dancing and having fun lead to girls grabbing onto our legs and screaming our names. The first couple rows were just watching us. I can tell you after that DJ D-Cutz and myself will stop at nothing this year to keep advancing.

Special thanks to Mark Mallory & Eric Dubuque for putting on another great show, DJ Cody Rice & Vakkuum for supplying more dope music, our favorite photographer Sarah Kjelleren for taking photos, and of course my homie Gray for taking some video footage of the show.

David: Sarah Kjelleren Photo of the Week! (Wednesday)

Sarah Kjelleren & Myself
Hey, hi, hello. The "Photo of the Week" post didn't go anywhere... just went away for a little bit. So sorry for the recent absence, but it's back. This weeks photo is of Emy Geer, who I actually met the day this photo was taken. I remember Sarah was extremely excited for this one because it involved water, clothes, and the great addition of a beautiful girl. And once again Sarah did what she does best. I love the lighting and colors in this shot and the mysterious and heartbroken vibe shown. Great job once again. Check it out below:

David: Sarah Kjelleren Photo of the Week!

Sarah Kjelleren

Sarah Kjelleren calls this photo, "The Alien Ship." There is something very awry and interesting going on in this photo, but also peaceful and beautiful as well. This bright blue "Alien" cloud, which is reflected against the lake, almost takes over the whole sky. A scenic picture that took me a few moments to see what is actually going on... appropriately dubbed "The Alien Ship" for a reason. Check it out below:

David: Sarah Kjelleren Photo of the Week!

Sarah Kjelleren

This weeks photo is of the gorgeous Haley Perkins. This photo shoot was done about a week ago on the same day Gray and myself checked in with Sarah Kjelleren to take a few photos (those will be up on here soon). I love the lighting in this photo and what's also great is how beautiful of a shot this is. A beautiful girl and beautiful Vermont. What could get any better than that? Check it out below:

David: Sarah Kjelleren Photo of the Week!

Sarah Kjelleren

This weeks photo is of James Neiley, a local stylist, designer, and a recent graduate of high school. James did all the styling himself in this photo and also the rest during this shoot. I just think this photo is so dope and so simple. Nothing flashy and nothing extreme. Just another amazing photo from Sarah Kjelleren.
